San Francisco-based designer & fiber artist, Melisa Joy, loves connecting people through creativity. She is inspired by traveling, exploring natural beauty, and the colorful light of the west coast. After working as an Industrial Designer in Home Decor, it became increasingly important to her to ensure handmade retains its voice. She loves helping others discover a new, creative hobby. The perfect color palette, texture or “light bulb” moment make her giddy. Her DIY Embroidery kits can be found in independent shops throughout the Bay Area.

Image Transfer to Wood Workshop: Holiday Edition

Daisy McClellanComment

Join us for our special Holiday Image Transfer to Wood Workshop on Thursday December 8th, 2016 at 7p.

Our instructor, Chelsea has made a business of transferring her photos on to wood with her company Cuppa Fog for the past 4 1/2 years. We carry her beautiful San Francisco themed pieces in the shop. For this workshop she will  share her secret tips and tricks!

In this class you will use your own photos to make 6 mini wood transfers (2.5 x 3 inches) that are perfect to give as gifts for the holidays or turn into ornaments for your tree.  You can use the same image multiple times (perfect for gift giving to Mom, Grandma, friends, etc) or up to 6 different ones to keep all for yourself...the choice is yours!*

Chelsea each teach you: Wood preparation, image transfer application, removal of paper, distressed-finish techniques, sealant method, and how to apply hardware on the back of your new art. You will complete 3 pieces in class and have 3 to finish at home.

This two hour class also includes wine and snacks and a discount on merchandise in the store that night. No experience needed- all levels welcome!

Purchase your space now!

Image Transfer to Wood Workshop: Holiday Edition - Thursday December 8th, 2016 - 7p-9p: $50

*We recommend good contrast and high resolution digital files. We advise you to stay away from portraits (people or animal), as they are tougher to make sure the distressing doesn’t happen over important parts like faces. Please email pictures to hello@gathersf.com by Sunday December 4th.
